I would suggest the elk rump for densely wooded areas. Especially with
setting up on game trails the elk rump works fantastic. It will naturally
draw elk closer as they see an elk moving away and want to catch up. If you
are hunting with a partner one of you should call and hold the decoy. As
the elk comes closer and catches a glimpse of the decoy the caller/decoy
should back away drawing the elk past the bow hunter.
The elk will lock-in
on the decoy and not be expecting any danger from where another elk just
walked. If you plan to be in a tree stand I would suggest setting it just
off the main game trail 30-40 yards away and on the opposite side of the
game trail that way when an elk comes down the trail he will be looking away
from you when you draw and take the shot.
